this is the second time that we came to this parrilla, estancia del puerto, in a week. in fact, the only reason that we came back to montevideo was to return to this parrilla. we think they remembered us.

argentines are serious about their mate. a cerveza and mate at seven in the morning.
the one and only commercial street which is considered the town center is about a kilometer away from the hostel. problem solved when we all pack into the hostel owner’s beater-vw-bus. at one point, the guys had to get out and push because there were too many people in it.
gramajo. a typical uruguayo dish complete with potatoes, ham, onions, peppers, carrots, cheese and eggs all stir-fried together.
